Mutual Financial Goals and Dreams

Wives it is absolutely a blessing to be able to have mutual financial goals and dreams. You can have that in a Christian marriage. Do not think for one second that it is impossible – it is very possible. Both of you have to be willing to make some changes and agree to mutual goals. The first step in doing this is TALK, TALK and then TALK some more with each other and not AT each other.
What is the first mutual goal you would like to accomplish?
How do you plan on accomplishing it? Is it where both of you contribute a certain amount to a bill per month (if you are both working) until it is paid off? Or contribute a certain amount to a savings account.
Make it into a contest, it could be a lot of fun.
Whatever your mutual financial goal is, it should be kept between you and your spouse everyone outside of your household does not need to know. Let’s be honest Ladies, other people’s opinions depending on who it is can weigh on what we do. It shouldn’t especially after we’ve agreed to a certain thing with our spouse. BUT – it does occur sometimes and causes more trouble in our relationship.
Let me share a mutual financial goal my husband and I had many many years ago when we first met – it was to save x amount of dollars per pay check in order to save for a house.
One of my goals right now without him knowing it is to build an emergency fund. Life happens and you must be prepared. Don’t forget to look at the videos. There is one on emergency funds – what it is, how you build and when do you start.
I have been in the situation of making a bad financial decision and having to ask for forgiveness and then start over. No reason to be ashamed because it happens. Nobody is perfect and we are learning all the time.
Talk with your spouse and prepare to create mutual financial goals that will change your lives. Have fun.
